Brazil’s gen-t project maps data for a gene bank

The initiative will be in Salvador for six months and aims to collect 5,000 blood samples

In Salvador, the gen-t do Brazil project is analyzing blood samples to explore the origins of Brazilians. The collection of health and DNA data from the population living in Salvador, the city with the largest black population outside of Africa, is essential for the construction of the largest and most diverse genetic bank in Latin America. This will contribute to the promotion of a more inclusive medicine in Brazil.

During its six months in the city, the project intends to collect 5,000 blood samples.
