{"id":435,"date":"2023-10-06T09:24:10","date_gmt":"2023-10-06T12:24:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.gen-t.science\/?p=435"},"modified":"2024-10-15T09:29:56","modified_gmt":"2024-10-15T12:29:56","slug":"gen-t-soma-16-milhoes-em-investimento","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.gen-t.science\/pt-br\/2023\/10\/gen-t-soma-16-milhoes-em-investimento\/","title":{"rendered":"gen-t soma R$ 16 milh\u00f5es em investimento para ampliar o maior biobanco gen\u00e9tico da Am\u00e9rica Latina"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Biotech prev\u00ea sequenciar o genoma de 200 mil brasileiros<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A gen-t, biotech criada pela renomada cientista brasileira Lygia da Veiga Pereira, alcan\u00e7ou o montante de R$ 16 milh\u00f5es em investimentos (US$ 3,3 milh\u00f5es), com uma extens\u00e3o do pr\u00e9-seed inicial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A empresa est\u00e1 construindo uma plataforma pioneira que une dados gen\u00f4micos e de sa\u00fade de forma otimizada, com vistas a incluir a popula\u00e7\u00e3o brasileira em medicina de precis\u00e3o e assim fomentar pesquisa e inova\u00e7\u00e3o na ind\u00fastria farmac\u00eautica e biotecnol\u00f3gica a partir da nossa diversidade gen\u00f4mica.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nesta segunda etapa de capta\u00e7\u00e3o, a gen-t recebeu o apoio de investidores que j\u00e1 haviam apostado na startup, como o fundador da G\u00e1vea Investimentos e ex-presidente do Banco Central, Arm\u00ednio Fraga, e tamb\u00e9m recebeu aporte de novos investidores estrat\u00e9gicos, como a Eurofarma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Eurofarma, por meio do fundo Eurofarma Ventures, \u00e9 a primeira farmac\u00eautica brasileira a investir na gen-t. Fora do pa\u00eds, a farmac\u00eautica norte-americana Roivant Sciences tamb\u00e9m investe na biotech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">O novo aporte ser\u00e1 destinado \u00e0 expans\u00e3o do Projeto gen-t do Brasil, que prev\u00ea sequenciar o genoma de 200 mil brasileiros de diferentes regi\u00f5es do pa\u00eds at\u00e9 o fim de 2026. Esses volunt\u00e1rios compartilhar\u00e3o com a gen-t seus dados de sa\u00fade e comportamentais, e doar\u00e3o sangue para armazenamento de plasma e sequenciamento de DNA.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;A proposta da gen-t \u00e9 ser uma parceira estrat\u00e9gica da ind\u00fastria farmac\u00eautica e de biotecnologia, promovendo a inclus\u00e3o e diversidade no desenvolvimento de inova\u00e7\u00f5es em sa\u00fade por meio da diversidade gen\u00e9tica brasileira&#8221;, resume Lygia. &#8220;Queremos abrir um novo horizonte de descobertas em gen\u00e9tica.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lygia da Veiga Pereira \u00e9 doutora em gen\u00e9tica humana pelo Mount Sinai Graduate School, em Nova York, e professora titular de gen\u00e9tica humana na USP. Em sua equipe, conta com outros consultores geneticistas renomados, como T\u00e1bita H\u00fcnemeier, doutora em gen\u00e9tica de popula\u00e7\u00f5es, e Alexandre Pereira, m\u00e9dico cardiologista.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cen\u00e1rio dos dados gen\u00f4micos<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Atualmente, os bancos de dados gen\u00f4micos existentes n\u00e3o representam a popula\u00e7\u00e3o mundial. Do total de genomas sequenciados no mundo todo, 80% s\u00e3o europeus, 10% s\u00e3o asi\u00e1ticos, 7% n\u00e3o-identificados, 2% s\u00e3o africanos e apenas 1% \u00e9 hisp\u00e2nico ou latino americano. Essa falta de diversidade leva \u00e0 desigualdade nos avan\u00e7os m\u00e9dicos e \u00e0 perda de oportunidades em pesquisa e inova\u00e7\u00e3o na \u00e1rea da sa\u00fade.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A plataforma gen-t ser\u00e1 o maior banco de dados de variantes gen\u00e9ticas numa popula\u00e7\u00e3o da Am\u00e9rica Latina, abordando essa desigualdade e falta de diversidade nos bancos gen\u00f4micos globais e abrindo caminho para a pesquisa gen\u00e9tica mais inclusiva.
